It looks like July 9th could be the day.

Holly Holm’s UFC bantamweight championship belt isn’t even properly settled in her home and  her first title defense is alreadly shaping up. UFC president Dana White  hinted at a quick rematch earlier this month.

“I think that if we didn’t make the rematch happen [I] would need to lose [my] promoter’s license,” White said. “That fight’s going to happen. I don’t know when but it’s going to happen. Ronda Rousey has gone undefeated, taking the sport to another level and was beating the best women in the world.”

The Ronda Rousey that Dana White described is a far cry from the humbled fighter who returned from UFC 193 last month. The former champ was completely outmatched, taking blow after blow as her stiking game was dismantled by Holm. According to White, Holm has already agreed that Rousey deserves a rematch but wanted to set up a fight much sooner than the proposed date. A match between Rousey-nemesis Miesha Tate seemed to be materializing, but reports say that White isn’t interested.
