For those familiar with Hafthór ‘Thor’ Björnsson, it’s evident how seriously the strongman takes his work with the weights. Apparently, he also takes his native soccer team—Iceland—very seriously as well.
So convicted is ‘Thor’ about the success of Iceland’s team in the upcoming Euro 2016—the international men’s football (soccer) championship of Europe—that he had some choice words for the star of Portugal’s team, Iceland’s next opponent.
“I have a message for Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Björnsson during one of his workouts. “I know you are playing against Iceland in the first game. If you dare to score against my teammates, I will find you and crush your head!” Yes, it’s most likely all in good fun. Still, ‘The Mountain’ does have experience crushing other people’s heads in his menacing role on Game of Thrones, and he is extremely passionate about his country’s soccer team, so you just never know.
Will the threat affect Ronaldo’s game? We can’t say for sure. All that the fans of Portugal can hope is that he’s able to keep his head in the game.
