Read articleIf you’ve ever watched the previous trailers for Logan, you’d know that things look pretty bleak for everyone’s favorite adamantium-clawed hero in the year 2029. Sunday’s Super Bowl trailer reaffirms the movie’s darker take on Wolverine, combining clips largely taken from previous trailers complete with haunting audio.
On top of the Super Bowl spot, Fox also released a one-minute clip where Logan and his friend Mr. Marsden (Eriq La Salle) run into some unwelcome guests. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what happens to them:
Logan once again stars Hugh Jackman as the titular mutant for one last time (or so he says). In the distant future, Logan cares for an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and prefers to be left alone. However, he is soon tasked with transporting a mysterious mutant girl named Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen) — also known as comic book fan-favorite X-23—across the Canadian border while being pursued by Donald Pierce (Boyd Holdbrook) and his band of “Reavers.” Hardships and bloodshed are sure to follow.
Logan, directed by James Mangold and starring Jackman, Stewart, Keen, Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Richard E. Grant, claws its way into theaters on March 3, 2017.
