Swiss Ball Windshield Wipers

This exercise increases rotational strength and stability throughout the core with an emphasis on the obliques. The movement also improves strength in the lower back and hips.

Instructions

  1. 806_A
    Lie flat on your back with your arms stretched out to each side and palms flat on the ground. Squeeze a Swiss ball in between your feet and raise your legs to the ceiling.
  2. Swiss Ball Windshield Wipers
    Squeezing the ball, lower legs to one side as far as possible without letting the upper back or arms come off the ground. Then return the ball back to the center and repeat on the opposite side.

Trainer’s Tips

  • Make sure you control the entire range of motion. Guide the legs instead of letting them fall freely.
  • Keep the upper back and arms in contact with the ground throughout the movement.
