As a bodybuilder, you likely know that glutamine is an important amino acid for muscle growth and immune function. You may even know that glutamine can help to keep your muscles “swole” by pulling more water into them. But a new form of glutamine, known as L-alanyl-Lglutamine (glutamine bound to the amino acid alanine) may be even better at pulling water into cells.

Researchers from the College of New Jersey (Ewing) dehydrated male subjects and then rehydrated them with either plain water or water with L-alanyl-L-glutamine added to it. The graph shows the greater time to exhaustion men experienced during an intense workout on a stationary cycle when they took the glutamine supplement. The researchers concluded that the men were able to exercise longer due to glutamine’s ability to better draw water into cells. This also means that this form of glutamine can help you achieve bigger pumps during workouts and keep your muscles fuller.

TAKE ABOUT 3-5 GRAMS OF L-ALANYL-L-GLUTAMINE ABOUT 30 MINUTES BEFORE WORKOUTS TO STAY BETTER HYDRATED, GET A BIGGER PUMP AND KEEP YOUR MUSCLES FULLER. SEVERAL PREWORKOUT SUPPLEMENTS PROVIDE THIS FORM OF GLUTAMINE, LISTED AS THE TRADEMARKED NAME SUSTAMINE.
