Read articleTinder and Spotify are shacking up—and man are they a match made in dating app heaven.
Starting today, your swiping experience will be tricked out with tunes. You can broadcast your personal “anthem” from your Tinder profile—the one song you’re unabashedly obsessed with at the moment, that tells your story, and encapsulates all that is you. Sure it can change on a weekly or monthly basis, but it’s a representation of your personality; and Spotify is giving all Tinder users, even if they don’t have a Spotify account, the ability to add one to their profile.
You can also display and listen to your favorite all-time artists from Spotify, play previews of other people’s top songs, and swipe to see who shares your taste in music if you do have a Spotify account. It may seem a bit reminiscent of the profile background songs that would play on an endless loop on your adolescent Myspace page…
It makes sense for music to have a greater role on the app. Tinder already suggests matches based on your swiping preferences, mutual friends, and common interests.
Sharing your anthem is simple. Here’s how it works, per Spotify:
· Search Spotify to find your Anthem even if you haven’t connected your Spotify account to Tinder.
· Visit your Profile Settings in Tinder to connect your Spotify account (or download Spotify from the App Store or Google Play to create a new account for free).
· Select which of your favorite Spotify artists you’d like to display on your Tinder profile.
· Start swiping to see who shares your taste in music.
