Eight is the number of times that Triple H has held the WWE Championship. These days ‘The King of King’s’ is dominating both the squared circle and the boardroom, but did you know these interesting facts about him?

Born Paul Michael Levesque, ‘The Game’ picked up his first set of dumbbells at just 14 years of age in an effort to look like his wrestling heroes. Triple H entered a number of competitions and was crowned ‘Teenage Mr New Hampshire in 1988. It wasn’t until 1992 when he made his wrestling debut.

‘The Game’ originally entered the WWE as an aristocratic snob. Lavesque underwent a number of character changes before clicking with ‘Triple H’. Those initials hark back to his early days in the WWE when his full name was given as Hunter Hearst Helmsley. He also wrestled in the now defunct WCW under the ring name ‘Terra Ryzing’.

Although many people tipped ‘The King of Kings’ to take the crown in 1996, that year would be ruled by ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Undeterred, Triple H would compete and eventually win the 1997 WWE King of the Ring tournament. Shortly after this he began using the abbreviated name ‘Triple H’. He also won the 2002 Royal Rumble.

With talent heading over to WCW, the WWE found themselves in a Monday Night TV ratings war. Triple H formed a wrestling group called ‘D-Generation X’ as an answer to WCW’s ‘New World Order’ group. At one point DX even commandeered a tank and drove it to a WCW TV taping.DX proved to be younger and more exciting than their counterparts, which helped the WWE to eventually squash WCW.

On the May 21st, 2001 episode of WWE Raw, ‘The Game’ suffered a torn quadriceps during a match. Such an injury can be career threatening but Triple H would go on to finish the match with his injury painfully visible.The rehabilitation process was long and arduous but nothing can hold this man back, as he made a triumphant return just months later.

Although Triple H married Stephanie McMahon (daughter of WWE owner Vince McMahon) back in 1999, it was just part of an ongoing storyline. But sometimes art imitates life. The couple were legally hitched in 2003 and now have three beautiful daughters.
