Instagram is the new resume. Floyd Mayweather discovered his personal chef through the popular social media platform last year before his bout with Canelo Alvarez. Chef, Quiana Jeffries, was hired to satisfy the ever changing palate of the welterweight champion. His palate even matches his routine — a spontaneous routine is the name of the game. Chef Q says, “If Champ wants a meal at three, four, five, six in the morning, I have to be ready for that. He’s called at 4 a.m. and says, ‘I want that oxtail’.” Making $1,000 per plate, the talented chef dishes on how she cooks for Pretty Boy Floyd — keeping the meals fit and clean.

With 25 years in the ring, there’s no question that The Champ knows what his body needs nutritionally. And the only time that he’s been consistent about something is post-worktout nutrition — hello protein. Chef Q says, “He is big on either beef or seafood. Beef for the protein and fish for the omeg-3s.” You don’t just have to be a pro to know what your body needs, Chef Q’s advises to look out for any dehydration, energy pit-falls, and your bathroom routine.

The Champ builds his diet off of who he’s fighting. Chef Q’s insight: “If you notice from the Maidana fight he was a little bit smaller. This fight he is buffed up a little more.” Since Mayweather is on the bigger side for this bout, Chef Q has been packing on the protein in meals, “For the Pacquiao fight, he’ll be focusig on high levels of protein with no carbs — turkey, chicken, beef and fish… no pork.”

Eating organic is big in the Mayweather kitchen and supps are pretty far off reach. “He’s all natural so we do all natural organic fruit. That way he is getting everything he needs to rebuild his body. I juice watermelon for him with the black seeds to give him energy.”

Sauces and gravies can kill the macros, but you don’t have to eat bland to stay fit. Mayweather wants his food tasting good, so Chef Q flavors up dishes with herbs and spices, which also provides health benefits. “He likes aromatic food. Food with a little kick, but not too much heat.” Mayweather is a fan of Caribbean spices. Believe it or not, Mayweather’s favorite vegetable is broccoli, “He loves it the way I make it.” She sautés the florets in butter and garlic, and tops it off with Cajun spices.

Where you shop really does matter. Since Pretty Boy Floyd prefers organic food and wants food at odd hours like 3 a.m., Chef Q is constantly racing to the grocery store. She’s tried searching for a farmers’ market, but at 3 a.m. her only option has been a 24-hour supermarket. And if The Champ wants fish at an odd hour, thankfully Chef Q has befriended the night managers who can get that for her.

Keeping Mayweather happy with the meals is Chef Q’s priority. When he’s not prepping for a fight, The Champ likes Twizzlers, Ramen, and hot dogs. Fried hot dogs are his favorite, making Chef Q put in some serious creativity to the meal. “I cut them longways, and fry them up in a little coconut oil. I spice up the barbeque sauce, too. I add oragnes, orange zest, and other spices. He loves barbecue sauce. Everything with barbecue sauce. But that’s life. You like what you know.”
