We’re not going to say that any of the cast is old, because every one of them could pulverize us, but some of they guys have been around the block a few times and have some scars to show and stories to tell. There are 17 stars credited on the official movie poster, though Robert Davi isn’t in the photo itself. We dusted off our abacus and decided to calculate the total age of the actors credited. The total age? 850 years. That is eight and a half centuries of serious ass-kicking and name-taking. Digest that one, guys.

At a recent “An Evening with Stallone” event in England, Stallone explained to the crowd that Jason Statham came close to checking out while making the movie. In Sly’s own words:“He was test driving a truck in the Black Sea and it went down 75 feet into the mud. We had taken the doors out because it was a stunt truck. If anybody else had been in that truck, he would have been dead. But because he’s an Olympic quality diver, he was OK. Half an hour later, he was ready to go again. He’s a real badass for real.”Bloody hell, as Statham himself might say. In case you are wondering about Statham’s diving career, we unearthed this footage:

Ronda Rousey can do no wrong at the minute. The UFC bantamweight champion’s stock is soaring, and Stallone sought her out to be the first female member of the crew (another pioneering move from Rousey who changed the game for women’s MMA). While promoting the movie, Rousey told press that Sly fought tooth and nail to get her in the gang, and that once the deal was done she made it her mission to not make him not regret his move. Our own executive editor Schwarzenegger said of Ronda at the premiere, “She’s unbelievable. To see someone that is the UFC world champion and to show that skill in the movie is really remarkable. I was in awe of her performance.”

If you told Stallone 30 years ago that he would make a series of movies with Schwarzenegger, he might have knocked you out. To say that the two guys did not get along was a bit of an understatement. They were fierce rivals, so much so that Stallone told a story of how Arnold tricked him into taking the lead role in Stop or My Mom Will Shoot by pretending to be interested in it himself. The movie bombed and Sly has admitted that it is one of the worst he has made. Those days of feuding are over, and now the two are tight.Stallone also admitted he initally hated Rocky IV nemesis Dolph Lundgren. Why? “‘Cause he’s perfect!” the Rocky director said. “He’s 6’5″, he’s 230 lbs., big guy, and he happens to be a chemical engineer and a Fulbright scholar.” The two have since become great friends.

Of the younger generation, Ronda Rousey is the current UFC Bantamweight Champion and Victor Ortiz is a former WBC Welterweight Champion who still laces up. Of the older generation, Terry Crews played in the NFL, Arnold is a seven-time Mr. Olympia, Randy Couture is a former two-division UFC champion, Dolph Lundgren is a former two-time European Karate champion and the aforementioned Jason Statham represented England as a diver.

If you look at the cast, it’s like a whos-who of men who played movie characters that will resonate forever. Termintor, Conan the Barbarian, Rocky, Rambo, Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Mad Max, William Wallace to name a few. That collective resume is pretty damn impressive.

In a recent Muscle & Fitness interview with Dwayne Johnson, he ruled out being in the next movie, but then teased a possible entry into it by saying if he was ever to appear in the franchise, he “wouldn’t be on their side, no, I’m going be hunting those motherfuckers down. That’s what I do. I wouldn’t want to be on the same side as them. It’s more interesting right? I mean think of me… hunting ’em down.” Only The Rock could look at this cast and think, “I’ve got this.” Let’s see what happens on that score…
